I purchased 2 units for a newly constructed home for the 2,700 sf basement only needing light use. They worked fine but at 8 months one failed showing EC code. Frigidaire promptly sent a replacement. The second one failed at 13 months with the same EC code and since it was one month out of warranty they refused to replace it. The replacement from the first failed unit failed after 6 months of use with the bottom third of the coils constantly freezing and not drawing water. Frigidaire refused to replace it saying it was out of warranty. When I pointed out it was only 6 months old they said since it was a replacement the warranty started with the first one. They told me I should have bought an extended warranty. I asked if it was reasonable that I should expect more than 6, 8, and 13 months use out of the three dehumidifiers I had. They didn't respond. When I asked how long should a well maintained unit with light use last. She acted like she couldn't hear me saying " Are you there...I can't hear you." I responded but she kept repeating. How convenient. Can't make this up. Bottom line 3 units failed. One in 6 months, one in 8 months and one in 13 months under very light use conditions.

Our dehumidifier started continually displaying EC code within 4 months. Called on July 31 and was told a replacement request had been created. Chatted on website on Aug 1 and was told same thing and would get the new one in 7-10 days. Chatted again on Aug 19 and was told that there was no update but they would follow up. Also sent email on Aug 19 which just got an auto response telling me how wonderful the chat feature is. At that point had spent 3+ hours on phone or on chat due to excessive wait times. Chatted again on Aug 23 and was told that the information I had been given was not a claim at all. The agent provided a link to file a claim online- no idea why the three prior agents didn™™t do that. So I filed the claim online as soon as I got off the chat on Aug 23 that I thought had been filed on Jul 31. Terrible service.

Posting my review again since it is not appearing in spite of the Frigidaire e-mail saying it was live. Maybe they'll decline to put this one up as well.DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT. As others say, it fails very early in the product lifetime, usually just as the paltry 1 year warranty expires. I spoke to support and they said tough luck, nothing we can do. I assume they get many many calls about this product.I have posted a warning on the product page on Amazon as well to hopefully stop others from buying it. I also have the EC error code as most other users do. Frigidaire offers no support or acknowledgement of any recall or manufacturer defect for this. I will not be buying products from them in the future due to poor quality and support.

Just about a year in, my dehumidifier started icing up. I thawed it out and tried the fixes I found online - made sure the basement temperature was warm (ha! it's 90 degrees out), checked the coils were clean, and made sure there was adequate airflow all around. It iced up again. Tried again - same result. By the time I called the company it was out of warranty. I'm a very unhappy customer.

Bought this Frigidaire Dehumidifier model FFAD5033W1 August 21, 2020 through Walmart for my daughter. It failed and is showing an error code EC, which is non-repairable. She called Frigidaire and they said ™1 year warranty™. Even though she had it for just shy of 4 years, keep in mind that it is only in use about 4 month per year for a total of 16 months of total use. It wasn™™t a lot of money, approx $275.00, but to me it doesn™™t meet the customer™™s expectations for a company as large and as reputable as Frigidaire (Electrolux). The unit was manufactured in China something you can™™t always see when you buy online. Manufactured in China, considered cheap, but not always good quality. I told my daughter to buy a new one from another company brand.

Broke in less than 3 months with evaporator coil error.Call support. Spent over an hour in the hold queue. April 26th I received an email stating it will get replaced, under warranty. It is now May 29th. No unit has been sent. If I look up my order #, system doesn't find it. Spent another 30 min in the hold queue. Finally talked to someone who couldn't help me and transferred to to another hold queue where I sit and sit until I give up. I have my receipt from Amazon. I still have an email with the replacement order number and info. I just don't have a dehumidifier.

Dehumidifier failed under warranty. Submitted warranty claim, Frigidaire confirmed receipt and that shipment confirmation would be provided within 10 business days. Now at 20+ business days and all care can do is day they will open a ticket and send it to the "back office.". Multiple calls to customer care and it is the same story each time. Seems that they just want you to give up. Expected more, especially since I paid for an extended warranty. Does not appear to be an ethical business based on my experience.

Bought this 3-4 years ago to reduce humidity in a room with a high-end piano while I am away during the summer. The onboard pump was ideal, and I ran the small hose included through a small hole in the wall into the bathtub in the next room. Perfect solution. Only the pump has stopped working now, rendering my brilliant solution useless. I am waiting to call the service number after the weekend, and hope the unit can be repaired. It's rather pricey to have to replace it this soon. For the past 3-4 seasons it has functioned well, is quiet, takes up little space and is attractively designed.

I purchased this item with the thought it would last 5-6 yrs, even bought the extende warranty. Well the product stopped working and they sent me a new one, which I received in May, in September it stopped working, called Frigidaire and say item is not working what to do, was advised item is out of warranty, they go back to when original item was purchased. I also called Frigidaire certified repair service and was item item can not be fixed. Needless to say, purchased an Honeywell will see how long that one last. But for a new item to last less then 6 months is not good, I am done buying Frigidaire

I bought one of these, knowing that it would probably have problems. So I bought the 5-year Appliance Protection Plan directly from Frigidaire/Electrolux. The dehumidifier did a fine job removing humidity, but the pump wouldn't empty the tank all of the time so it would shut off. Turning it off and on fixed it for a while. And then it refused to power up at all. That was this spring. I finally filed a warranty claim on July 17, and they promised a replacement unit. I had to follow up on 8/4, 8/18, 9/8 and today, 9/26. Now they are blaming their "courier" for losing it. Twice. Totally useless warranty. If you decide to take a chance and buy one of these, get a third-party warranty that will just give you cash when (not if) it dies.

Got this to replace my 70 pint frigidaire dehumidifier that worked non stop for 10 years in my basement. It started icing over but there's no affordable way to responsibly tap into the system to capture, leak test, and refill as everything still works. It likely just has a tiny leak that took 10 years to drop.I was nervous reading all the reviews of the new ones with cheap thin walled copper and poor manufacturing processes resulting in leaking evaporators and condensors so I got an extended warranty from elsewhere. The unit is the same size as the old one and while its only a 50 pint, it seems to dry things out as quickly. Its a bit quieter and has a drain pump which is convenient. However its pumping through a 1/4 OD line and it takes 15 minutes to drain the tank. It seems to run more frequently than the old one but I do have it set for lower humidity. Only time will tell if this suffers early mortality

Unfortunately, feel compelled to leave a 1 star review due to the dreaded "EC" code. I can unplug and plug back in, but the EC code comes back and shuts the unit down in a few hours. The unit worked great for 2 years, but I feel like 2 years is not sufficient life-span for this type of appliance. Is there a way to repair this? I would really rather not have to bear the cost of a new appliance, nor the landfill impact of throwing out a faulty one.

I purchased this unit 2 years ago after I had an LG unit break after 2 years of ownership. Because of my problems with LG I went to Frigidaire. I did research online and read a number of generally positive reviews. However, after about a year and a half of owning the Frigidaire unit I noticed ice forming on the back of the filter. This is generally an issue attributed to the compressor. This ice buildup eventually got bad enough to call Frigidaire and submit a warranty ticket. The ticket was submitted at the end of June 2023 with the appropriate paper work attached. This included original receipt and serial information. A confirmation from Frigidaire was sent to my inbox and a new unit/solution was promised within 10days. It has been over a month so I called back to check on the status of my submission. It turns out my submission was never addressed and the new rep needed to take my information all over again. On top of that he told me the warranty had expired (it was only 1 year). The service rep said that there was nothing more they could do. Moving forward I cannot count on a company that will not stand by their product. I am leaving this review to say I am disappointed that I spent the $330 dollars on a unit that only lasted 2 years (max). I do not recommend this experience or purchasing from Frigidaire. Moreover, they have lost my business for any other appliance purchases I need in the future. In conclusion, I would like to offer a solution on which company manufactures a reliable dehumidifier for high prices, however I have not found that brand yet.

In the past 50 or so years, I™™ve owned six dehumidifiers. Some inexpensive and a few in the one-thousand dollar range. So far this unit has them all beat. We™™re fortunate to have a basement sump that we can drain effluent directly into and this unit does it beautifully. Fundamentally, we dehumidifying roughly 1600 sq. ft., 1200 of which is a finished and fully furnished basement. The remainder is cellar space. The water dripping from cold water plumbing was making a big mess but after two days of running this unit, all was dry and continues to be. The doors in the finished section no operate properly and can now be opened and closed easily. The unit is quiet and does not take up space. One of our best purchasing decisions!

I purchased on May 7, 2022 Frigidaire Dehumidifier, High Humidity 50 Pint Capacity with Built In Pump, in White Model number: FFAP5033W1 Worked great for 3 months last summer. Yesterday (May 5, 2023) I turned it on for the first time this year and it runs a short time and shuts off displaying the EC code. I went through all of the troubleshooting steps listed and it repeatably shuts off and displays the same EC code. This unit is super clean (looks brand new) and was only used for 3 months last summer. Today I tried to contact Frigidaire directly for a replacement and of course there is no way to contact them on the weekends. Monday would put it over the 1 year warranty and from what I have read, Frigidaire will deny the warranty if that happens. I want this dehumidifier replaced under warranty. Especially since it is a VERY well known problem with Frigidaire dehumidifiers. See for yourself on Frigidaire's own website in the reviews of how many people have experienced the exact same EC error code in a very short time of owning it. $300 is a lot of money for an appliance that only lasted a couple of months. I hope that your customer service is much better than what I have read.

The dehumidifier does its job very well. We bought this to replace an old Frigidaire that worked well for many years. I am surprised that removing the tank and pouring from it have not been improved. The pump will eliminate that problem when we use it, but in some situations we will still need to pull out the tank. It is difficult for my wife to do and awkward for me to do. And why can't the tank pour from one place. Invariably toward the end some water comes out from the top. Still, I would recommend this dehumidifier, and I would buy it again.

We love our Frigidaire dehumidifier for our very large finished basement. It was really not that comfortable until we got this unit. We especially like that it has a pump and drains itself through a small tube that we ran out a window. The noise is minimal and it very quickly brings the humidity down to whatever level you set. Having a timer that automatically turns it off is extremely convenient. We highly recommend this dehumidifier.

This is by far the best dehumidifier I have ever bought it doesn't freeze up like the other dehumidifiers that I've had in the past where they would only last 2 years and I'd have to buy a new one. This dehumidifier is built much better than the ones that I have bought in the past I have a two-story house with a basement 2200 ft² and it has done a great job. The house used to be damp and musty smelling and what a difference it has made. I would highly recommend this dehumidifier

My warranty replacement is working fine and keeps very accurate humidity control. The bad, Frigidaire's warranty replacement procedure isn't consumer friendly. They hope you'll just go away.

This dehumidifier does an excellent job of keeping the humidity in our home in the correct range. We are in hot and humid NC. We are always amazed by how much water it collects from our air. We highly recommend.
