Cleaning Refrigerator Door Seals (July 23)

Do you attempt to clean those pesky seals around your refrigerator door without much luck? Follow these steps to rid the seals of any grime to ensure your refrigerator door closes tight.

First, turn the temperature setting dial to the “off” position. Also, unplug the refrigerator completely, if possible.

Mix equal parts of chlorine bleach and warm water. Wear gloves to help protect your hands from bleach.

Use an old toothbrush to scrub the top and side door seals as you gently pull the seal to allow room to clean the area between the door. Be careful to pull gently as to not rip the seal. Remove any loose particles of food, stains or mold or mildew.

Now, take a damp, clean rag and wipe the door seals to remove any remaining debris. Use a dry, clean rag to wipe the door seals dry.

Plug the refrigerator back in, if you had unplugged it, and turn the temperature control to "on,” and enjoy your newly clean door seals.
