If your ceiling fan is wobbling (and annoying you in the process) you don’t need to invest in a new one. Here’s how to make your ceiling fan run silently - or at least close to it.
First, check the blades to see that they are firmly attached and
tightened. This could be the culprit, so turn on the fan to see if
you’ve fixed the problem, if not, keep reading.
Next, turn off the power to the fan at the circuit breaker and remove
the canopy at the top of the fan (up by the ceiling). Make sure the
junction box the fan is attached to is secure. If not, tighten the
screws.
If this hasn't fixed the problem, check for a bent fan blade. Measure
from the top of a blade to the ceiling, and then move the fan by hand
and measure the distance form the next blade to the ceiling. The
distance should be the same for all the blades. You can remove the bent
blade and try to straighten it or replace it with a new one. Or,
attaching a weight from a balancing kit to the middle of the bent blade
will help fix the problem.
