Our trusty, dependable second refrigerator that we keep in our basement
dates back to 1990, the year my husband bought it as his one-and-only
refrigerator during his bachelor years. Since then, it’s survived one
cross-country and two local moves.
I grew up with a house full of Frigidaire appliances. My parents’
kitchen had a Frigidaire stove, refrigerator, microwave oven,
dishwasher, and range hood.
As a rule, gifts are tricky to give to a woman. It’s hard to find what somebody else really likes, and it’s even harder to find that gift without breaking the bank. Appliances as gifts are even more risky, because they don’t quite express love the way, say, diamonds or spa retreats do, at least not in my opinion.
There’s hardly a family event or other social occasion that goes by without someone asking me the “1-million dollar question”: “What’s the best new washer (or dryer, oven, or refrigerator) for me to buy?”
The next time you go appliance shopping, plan on taking your dirty laundry or your favorite cookie recipe.
One of my fondest childhood memories is my great Grandmother’s kitchen.
We created Home Appliance magazine because we identified a desire in consumers, a desire for more information when it comes to purchasing home appliances.
